The Greatest Commandment

How does it Apply to business?

This Commandment was Given in Reference to a Conversation Concerning Marriage.  The Sadducees, questioned Jesus on Marriage and were trying to trick him in order to discredit him.  After many examples, Jesus silenced the Crowd when he spoke to them about the Resurrection of the Dead.

When the Crowds heard this, they were astonished about his teachings.  But upon hearing that Jesus had silenced the crowed, the Sadducees and the Pharisees got together to ask Jesus a yet another Question…

One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

What can be learned about this passage and applied to your business? Or your life?

First, You might want to accept that there are People out there that know more than you!

And those Experts have for a long time!

That can be God, or for this purpose it might be a Mentor, Leader, Guide or Friend!

You need to condition yourself to listen for and listen to their advice.

Business Death can be referred to as anyone not having success.  Or to people that are not making the money they Need, Want or Desire.

In our passage under the greatest commandment of the law… we are given a clue… one that if applied correctly will take care of most Wants, Needs and Desires!

Did you catch it?  Love the Lord Your God with all your Heart, with all Your Soul and with all your mind… but there is another part to it.

Love your Neighbor as yourself.

Lets dissect this and put in in a way that you can apply the principle to your business.

1)  Love those that Teach you, Love those that Lead you, Love those that Mentor you, Love those that Guide you!

Wow… that’s pretty simple and straight forward.

In business, you need to support and appreciate those people that are willing to help you succeed.  You need to stay plugged into what they are teaching, and thank them for their time and effort… especially if it has been given to you free of charge!

2)  Love your neighbor as yourself.

This one is the business building one… Love your prospects, your friends, and people out there hurting.

Love them the way YOU want to be loved!  And Love them the way They want to be Loved!

You might want to Read “The Five Love Languages”

Remember to people… its not about YOU its all about them!

Give them Attention, give them Positive Feedback, Give them your Time!  Without asking for anything in return…

Just Love on them!

Simple business model right!

  • Love those that Teach and Guide you…
  • Love those you teach and Guide…

In business and in life… that’s The Greatest Commandment!

Absolutely, yes, yes, yes, Dave. If you don’t love what you are doing then how will you have the tenacity to keep going when the times get tough. When obstacles are placed in our way – as they always are. As with the second greatest commandment – Love thy neighbor as thyself – which translates directly to (as per the Science Of Getting Rich) always give more GIVE value than you receive in GET value. Stay a Blessing, Dave. prp

Great analogy, Dave. It is a people’s business and the first you should get good at is nothing technical but how to be good to people. Simple as that. Love your post.
